मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने मंगलवार को नई दिल्ली में जलशक्ति मंत्री सी आर पाटिल से शिष्टाचार भेंट की। इस दौरान उत्तराखण्ड के सामाजिक एवं आर्थिक विकास को गति देने के लिए 08 जलविद्युत परियोजनाओं के विकास और निर्माण के लिए अनुरोध किया है। इन आठ परियोजनाओं में 647 मेगावाट क्षमता की कुल 7 और 114 मेगावाट की एक परियोजना शामिल है।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि उत्तराखंड सरकार मां गंगा एवं अन्य समस्त नदियों की निर्मलता, अविरलता एवं पर्यावरण संरक्षण के प्रति पूरी तरह प्रतिबद्ध है और विशेषज्ञों की संस्तुतियों का पालन करते हुए सतत विकास के लक्ष्य को आगे बढ़ा रही है।
मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि 114 मेगावाट की सेला उर्थिंग जलविद्युत परियोजना धौलीगंगा पर पिथौरागढ में है। यह उत्तराखंड राज्य की सीमाओं के भीतर गंगा बेसिन का हिस्सा नहीं है। राज्य में गंगा और उसकी सहायक नदियों के अतिरिक्त अन्य नदी घाटियों पर परियोजनाओं पर प्रतिबंध नहीं है। इसलिए सेला उर्थिंग जल विद्युत परियोजना जो कि गंगा बेसिन का हिस्सा नहीं है, की स्वीकृति दी जानी चाहिए। मुख्यमंत्री ने केंद्रीय मंत्री से संबंधित अधिकारियों को इसके लिए आवश्यक निर्देश देने का अनुरोध किया।
मुख्यमंत्री ने केंद्रीय मंत्री से कैबिनेट सचिव भारत सरकार की अध्यक्षता में गठित समिति द्वारा दी गई संस्तुतियों और राज्य सरकार के अनुरोध के क्रम में कुल 647 मेगावाट क्षमता की 7 जलविद्युत परियोजनाओं की अनुमति दिये जाने का भी आग्रह किया।
