मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी की 08 अक्टूबर 2025 को नई दिल्ली में माननीय रेल मंत्री अश्विनी वैष्णव से हुई मुलाकात के दौरान इस विषय पर विस्तृत चर्चा हुई थी। मुख्यमंत्री के आग्रह पर रेल मंत्रालय ने शीघ्र कार्रवाई करते हुए टनकपुर–देहरादून रेल सेवा को सप्ताह में तीन बार चलाने की स्वीकृति प्रदान की है।
नई समय सारिणी के अनुसार 15019 देहरादून–टनकपुर एक्सप्रेस अब बुधवार, शुक्रवार और रविवार को चलेगी।

यह सेवा वृद्धि यात्रियों की बढ़ती मांग और क्षेत्रीय कनेक्टिविटी को ध्यान में रखते हुए की गई है। रेल मंत्रालय ने उत्तराखंड के यात्रियों की सुविधा को प्राथमिकता देते हुए इस निर्णय को शीघ्र प्रभाव से लागू करने का निर्देश दिया है।
