‘गोल्डन गर्ल’ दीपिका के टूर्नामेंट में 11वें गोल की मदद से भारत ने ओलंपिक सिल्वर मेडलिस्ट चीन को 1-0 से हराकर महिला एशियाई चैम्पियंस ट्रॉफी हॉकी खिताब बरकरार रखा। पिछले साल रांची में और 2016 में सिंगापुर में यह खिताब जीत चुकी भारतीय टीम ने जबर्दस्त तालमेल और संयम का परिचय देते हुए चीन को हाशिये पर रखा।
पहला हाफ गोलरहित रहने के बाद दूसरे हाफ के पहले ही मिनट में भारत को मिले पेनल्टी कॉर्नर पर दीपिका ने गोल करके खचाखच भरे बिहार खेल यूनिवर्सिटी स्टेडियम में मौजूद दर्शकों में उत्साह का संचार कर दिया।
दूसरे हाफ के पहले ही मिनट में भारत को लालरेम्सियामी ने पेनल्टी कॉर्नर दिलाया। इस पर पहला शॉट चूक गया लेकिन गेंद सर्कल के भीतर ही थी और नवनीत की स्टिक से डिफ्लैक्ट होकर दीपिका के पास पहुंची जिसने शानदार फ्लिक से उसे गोल के भीतर डाला। भारत के पास तीसरे क्वार्टर में ही बढत दुगुनी करने का सुनहरा मौका था लेकिन 42वें मिनट में मिले पेनल्टी स्ट्रोक पर दीपिका का शॉट चीन की गोलकीपर ने दाहिनी ओर डाइव लगाकर बचा लिया।
