मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने मंगलवार को नई दिल्ली में भारत के राष्ट्रपति द्वारा नागरिक अलंकरण समारोह में उत्तराखंड की सुश्री राधा भट्ट को सामाजिक कार्य, श्री ह्यूग गैंट्ज़र और श्रीमती कोलीन गैंट्ज़र (मरणोपरांत) को साहित्य एवं शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में पद्म श्री से सम्मानित किए जाने पर प्रसन्नता व्यक्त करते हुये इसे राज्य का भी सम्मान बताया।

मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि उत्तराखंड के सुदूर इलाके में जन्मी पद्म श्री से सम्मानित होने वाली सुश्री राधा भट्ट का पर्यावरण एवं समाज सेवा के साथ महिला शिक्षा के क्षेत्र में बड़ा योगदान रहा है। वह हिमालय सेवा संघ, नई दिल्ली की अध्यक्ष होने के नाते कई गांधीवादी संस्थाओं से जुड़ी रही हैं तथा उन्हें अनेक प्रतिष्ठित पुरुस्कारों से पूर्व में भी सम्मानित किया गया है।

मुख्यमंत्री ने पद्म श्री से सम्मानित श्री ह्यूग गैंट्ज़र को उत्तराखंड का प्रसिद्ध यात्रा वृतांत लेखक बताते हुए कहा कि उनके यात्रा वृतान्तों से भारतीय और अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर पर बड़ी संख्या में लेख लिखने के लिए लोग प्रेरित हुए, जबकि स्व0 श्रीमती कोलीन गैंट्ज़र ने 3,000 से अधिक लेख, कॉलम और पत्रिका फीचर्स लिखे हैं और 30 से अधिक पुस्तकें लिखी हैं। उन्होंने भारत में यात्रा लेखन के उच्च मानक स्थापित किए। उन्होंने अपनी लेखनी के द्वारा पाठकों के मन में देश के प्रति प्रेम को और गहरा ही नहीं किया, बल्कि कई लेखकों को प्रेरित भी किया।
